KILL ME TWICE is book one in Roxanne St. Claire's "Bullet Catchers" series and was one of those stories that was just too much fun to read! It was full of action and adventure with a kickass heroine and a strong, protective hero. I adored both Jasmine aka "Jazz" and Alejandro aka "Alex" who's connection and desire for each other was both believable and smoking hot. These two played so well off each other I sometimes forgot they hadn't known each other prior to him becoming her bodyguard. The twists and turns kept me guessing and nothing was ever too predictable or easy to figure out. As a romantic suspense it had everything I could want and nothing I didn't. I'm already so intrigued by these Bullet Catchers and their lady boss that I can hardly wait to read Max's story next =) Below is a list of the entire series and reading order for those who don't already know:

I'm always excited when I find a new author to add to my home library. Roxanne St. Claire can really tell a story. Her descriptions of the locations in the tale are vivid without being too wordy. Her characters are well developed and realistic. There is plenty of mystery and lots of fast- paced scenes to keep you turning the pages.

Alex has been assigned the duty of guarding a well- known news reporter. As a body guard among an elite team known as the 'Bullet Catchers', he takes his job seriously. When he arrives to take on his assigned task, he is surprised to find that his client has been replaced by her twin sister.

Jazz and her twin, Jess, are as different as night and day. While Jess is busy building her career as a famous anchorwoman, Jazz prefers risking her life as a private investigator. When Jess wants to take a week off at the news station to research a ground- breaking story, Jazz agrees to pretend she is her sister on the evening news. When Jazz arrives at her sister's apartment she is shocked to learn that she has a new body guard. The last thing Jazz wants or needs is a man following her around.

Over the following days, Alex and Jazz learn that Jess is in trouble. Until she is found, Alex has been reassigned to guarding Jazz in her sister's place. Jazz wants to follow every dangerous lead to her sister's whereabouts. Alex is determined to keep her from running straight into a trap. They make a pact to work together until Jess is saved. Their biggest challenge becomes fighting their attraction for one another so they can concentrate on saving Jess.

This book is a real page- turner. The only thing that made it a bit less enjoyable for me was the fact that Jazz's character was quite cold. She is jaded from a past relationship and will not bend when Alex tries to keep her safe. He compromises again and again in their search for Jess, but she insists upon doing everything her way... even to the point of taking unreasonable risks. She constantly disappears without warning, leaving Alex to frantically search for her. When their relationship progresses to "the next level", Jazz tells him that she only wants him for sex. It got to a point where I really could not like Jazz. I was wishing Alex had a woman with a bit more heart. Still, the story is definitely worth all 5 stars.

I truly fell into this book from page one, and enjoyed the ride to the last page. By this I mean that there were no discernable 'yawns' for me as I never got bored reading it. There were no editable distractions either, which for me, was a nice plus. There were also enough twists and false leads to keep me quessing, and I never once found myself thinking about the way the book was written, or how believable or otherwise the plot or characters were.

In short, I loved it.

What I didn't like? Nothing, there was nothing of this book that I didn't enjoy.

The best bit about this book? It left a smile on my face.
A few years ago, I fell upon a Bullet Catchers novel and was hooked. Her books weren't easily found but well worth the search. I didn't start at the beginning originally but recommend doing so because the characters develop over the course of the series. Lucy's story and Dan's story are particularly compelling especially when the reader grows to know and to connect with them earlier. Jazz and Alex are a wonderful start with a roller coaster ride and dynamite romance. Macho high achiever men need tough capable women which makes this couple believable. Tough women will resist being pushed around by a man, especially when they had a relationship like that before. Jazz's reactions to Alex rang true to me because of women in my world who are reacting just like this and for good reason. This is a strong start to a great series but the stories get stronger and stronger as the series progresses with the characters becoming ones the reader will remember long after the book is finished. I am rereading this series because I have been reading "highly rated" books which are not very good. So I turned back to old friends. Enjoy the ride. Its a good one.
