I am always one for a good steamy short story, but they get old. There's not enough weight to the characters. It's difficult to get to know them and feel like your in their world.

This book however, was everything I love and more. The characters have layers of emotions as it should be, not just lust. There was enough back sorry to really feel what both of these characters are feeling, so when you do finally get to a sensual scene it's that much easier to see why the slightest touch can set them on fire.

I also love the anticipation, if you wait 5 pages and your main characters are already in the sack there is not as much of a build up as there would be off you had to wait 100 pages.

I was finally not disappointed and I would recommend this book to anyone, over the age of 18...

Wonderful story line. Totally engrossing. Lots of action. Obsessions. Mob life. Friendship, & trust. Couldn't put it until 2am when finding myself nodding off while trying to just get to the next chapter. Pick up this book. You won't be disappointed. Ohhh did I forget the Alpha males involved. Sorry.
I liked this book. You have the hero who is from the wrong side, and the sweet heroine. I like the insta love sometimes. I really like when the hero is all protective and sweet to the heroine. This book had the right formula for me and it worked. I like Ms. Leroux's books. This one was a keeper.
Calen's Captive

This couple of unlikely lovers is refreshing in that the usual misunderstandings and angst are kept to a minimum. Of course there are some difficulties but they come from the Russian bad guy outside of the lovers. You can easily fall in love with these characters.
This is an honest review given after reading an ARC copy.
Calen might be a bad boy making good, but when he does a favor for his father his life changes. Now the good guy, he demands that the captive girl, Maia, held by the enemy be part of the deal. When Maia has to stay with Calen for safety things heat up, but can a real and lasting relationship come from a situation like this? It certainly can when emotions and the past combines to make for a steamy read. Interesting story line and emotionally engaging characters.
Calen had vowed to never involve into his family business but fate when he found his fairy in the middle of a “business” he had to take matters in his hands. She had been obsessed with her all his life and now she was his to protect against all. Love the overprotective and strong males of these stories. Maia was a good and smart character that I liked very much. The chemistry between them was strong and with Calen’s obsession with his little Maia it was a very good experience for her. Interesting and entertaining story with action, suspense, intrigue, violence and hot sex. Liked how it flowed with a steady development and drama that I enjoyed.
Calen's Captive can be read as a standalone and is book 2 in a series, but I recommend that you read book 1, as there are several characters in Calen's Captive that you already meet briefly in book 1.

I really actually loved this book for the simple fact that throughout the story, there were times when I laughed out loud over Calen's "faerie fetish" because it's kind of cute and adorable. Calen isn't an over-the-top alpha, but you can see from the moment he lays eyes on Maia, he's besotted by her and well do whatever he can to make her safe and happy.

This was just an all around interesting book that left me wanting to read more from Lucy Leroux. If you're a fan of mystery, adventure, action, romance, and a hot alpha, then this book is definitely for you.
I liked this story although I expected just a little bit more. It was hard to tell if Calen was in love or just possessive at various parts of the story. Maia was also lacking true emotion. It seemed like both characters were too scripted; just going through the motions without any real depth.

But despite that I thought they made a good couple. They each needed each other in different ways. I loved Calen's decisiveness. He never wavered about his decisions. And I also loved his honesty. Although he did things that were questionable he always owned up to them when asked. I also enjoyed their role playing sessions which gave me insight to Calen's true feelings.

There were a few typos in the middle of the book that were annoying but they tapered off. I have already read a few books by Lucy Leroux and I am anxious to read more. I am already planning to purchase the next book in this series.
